FAMILY MONTH INTRODUCTION
The family, as we know it, is the basic unit of any society. Whenever all is well in the family, it reflects positively on the society. From time immemorial, the family has had to battle with one issue or another. At times, it emerges victorious; unfortunately, at other times, these issues take a negative toll on the family.
This year, we are not unaware of the state of affairs the world over. Coupled with the usual challenges the family faces, families all over the world are having to deal with the novel Covid-19 pandemic. This has impacted the world level, country level, society level, and inevitably, the family level.
It is on the back of this that the Accra Ridge Church, through the Anaviosi committee, has set the theme for this year’s family month, “The Family in Challenging Times” with the theme verse, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (NKJV)
This year’s line-up for family month covers four main areas:
LIVING AS A LOVING FAMILY IN CHALLENGING TIMES
FROM HELL TO HEAVEN (TURNING AROUND A BAD AND FAILING RELATIONSHIP)
DEALING WITH LONELINESS
THE DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS AROUND ABUSE
These topics, though not exhaustive of the challenges faced by families, seek to touch on delicate issues and help families along through exhortations, interactive zoom sessions, family Bible studies, and team-building activities.
We trust that, by the grace of God, come to the end of the family month, affairs within the families of Accra Ridge Church members will take a turn for the better.
